13th International Conference on Design Science Research in Information Systems and Technology (DESRIST-2018)
The rapid digital transformation of businesses and society create new challenges and opportunities for Information Systems (IS) research with a strong focus on design. The theme for DESRIST 2018 is “Designing for a Digital and Globalized World”. There has been a surge of interest in design science research in IS in the last few years, and it has slowly evolved to be a mature methodology. The goal of the design science research paradigm is to extend the boundaries of human and organizational capabilities by designing new and innovative constructs, models, methods, processes, and systems. Scholars having different backgrounds such as information systems, computer science, software engineering, energy informatics, and medical informatics are actively engaged in generating novel solutions to interesting design problems in IS.
This conference will act as a major forum for the presentation of innovative IS ideas, approaches, developments and research projects in the area of DSR theory and applications. It will also serve to facilitate the exchange of ideas between researchers and industry professionals. Latest issues and advancement in the area of IT and its applications will be covered during the conference. We expect that the conference and its publications will be a trigger for further related research and technology improvements in Information Systems. DESRIST was founded in 2006 and has been hosted in various locations in the USA and Europe since then. DESRIST 2018 is the first DESRIST to be held in Asia. DESRIST 2018 is expected to attract researchers from Asia to submit their best work and present in the conference. The DESRIST 2018 will include following tracks; each will be managed by experts in the respective fields.
-

Doctoral Consortium:
The DESRIST conference proceeding is published as a Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science series. Authors are solicited to contribute to the Conference by submitting articles that illustrate research results, projects, innovation works and industrial experiences that describe significant advances in design science research pertaining to Information Systems.
Keynote Speakers:
Prof. Krithi Ramamritham:
Prof. Krithi Ramamritham has spent almost equal lengths of time at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and at IIT Bombay as a Chair Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
His current research involves applying computational approaches to energy management, based on the SMART principle: Sense Meaningfully, Analyze and Respond Timely. This work exploits and extends state of the art in database systems, real-time computing, sensor networks, embedded systems, mobile computing and smart grids.

About DESRIST
Design science research is a "lens" or set of synthetic and analytical techniques and perspectives (complementing positivist, interpretive , and critical perspectives) for performing research in IS. Design science research involves two primary activities to improve and understand the behavior of aspects of Information Systems: (1) the creation of new knowledge through design of novel or innovative artifacts (things or processes) and (2) the analysis of the artifact’s use and/or performance with reflection and abstraction . The artifacts created in the design science research process include , but are not limited to , algorithms, human/computer interfaces , and system design methodologies or languages.
